BUTTSLAWN GEMINI (GEM) Merrie Marmalade/Ashley Astral Gem has had a fantastic year, winning three out of four elite Show Mare Classes. She has been rarely shown since being Champion New Forest Pony and All Breeds Mare Champion at the East Anglian Native Pony Show three years ago. She was not shown as a 7 year old in any discipline. |

This year Gem went off to the stud in April, but before visiting the stallion, we brought her back for the Royal Bath and West Show, where she duly won her class, and then went Reserve Champion. We then kept her at home for another week for the New Forest Pony Enthusiasts' Show, where she won her Class, with her sister, Buttslawn Celestial coming third, and Buttslawn Fantasia coming fifth. That afternoon she went off to the Stud to visit the stallion. She returned to us just a few days before the New Forest Show, which was insufficient time for proper preparation, and she came fifth. Just over a week later we took her to Honiton Show. She won her Class, and went Mountain and Moorland Champion, and Reserve Supreme Champion. Gem rounded off the year in style by winning the Large Yeld Mare Class at the Breed Show, where she received outstanding comments from the judge. She was accompanied in the Ring by her stablemate, Fantasia, who finished a most creditable third in this very large class. We now look forward to the arrival of Gem's first foal, and the Brood Mare classes in 2010. |
BUTTSLAWN VERITY Verity is our "teenage Mum" (not by design!) producing
a foal in September 2008 which was full of character, and who has
now gone to a super home. As a 3 year old, we showed Verity throughout
2009, and overall she did very well, always being placed in the
ribbons. The photo was taken at the last Royal Show at Stoneleigh,
when she came 3rd in her class. She also won the 2 and 3 year old
Mountain and Moorland class at Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show (following
in the footsteps of her sister, Charisma, who won this class in
2008), and was second at the Breed Show. She is a lovely pony and
has a wonderful temperament.

BUTTSLAWN MELODY Melody, now a 3 year old in 2010, is the smallest in our herd, and was our first foal out of a Buttslawn mare. Being small we have focused on the specialised small N.F. pony classes for Melody. The photo was taken at the East Anglia Native Pony Show in 2008, when as a Yearling she did particularly well in becoming N.F. Reserve Youngstock Champion and winning the Owner/Breeder Rosette. She has also been 2nd at the Breed Show. Melody has a lovely temperament, and will make an eye-catching first ridden pony. |
